Iran expelled 5600 Afghan citizens from its country

Iran has started forcibly expelling Afghan citizens from its country, upset by the increasing number of Afghan citizens in its country. The Taliban-led government in Kabul has said that Iran has forcibly evacuated 5,600 civilians from its country over the past few weeks. Mohamed Arsalah Kharoti, deputy minister of the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation, said, “We have specifically asked Iran and those countries where Afghan citizens are living as migrants, on the basis of Islamic and international law. But has asked to respect the rights of Afghan migrants,” Tolo News reported on Thursday.

The Ministry of Afghanistan has issued orders from Iran and all other countries where Afghan citizens are living their lives as expatriates. All those countries have been asked to respect the rights of the citizens of Afghanistan and solve their problems. According to ministry data, 66 Afghan families have returned to their country from Pakistan, including Iran.

After the arrival of Taliban rule in Afghanistan, the citizens of the country are living as refugees in neighboring countries to make their living. According to the UN Refugee Agency, there are 2,069,703 registered refugees living in Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. Among these countries, the largest number of refugees are living in Pakistan and Iran, whose total numbers are 1,282,901 and 780,000 respectively.

The Taliban government had appealed to its citizens living in neighboring countries to return to their country. The Taliban also requested the minorities who had migrated from Afghanistan to other countries to return to the country and also promised to provide them security. So far this year, only 1,334 Afghan nationals have returned home after the Taliban appealed for refugees living in other countries to return home.
